Ensembles
Concert Bands
Coral Reef’s band program has a long-standing history of excellent bands. The ensembles perform advanced high school and college-level repertoire for various concerts, assessments, and festivals. New and returning members are placed in either the Symphonic Band or Wind Ensemble, to better match their skill level. Members of both concert bands are expected to practice daily and are encouraged to take private lessons on their major instrument.
Jazz Band
Students going into 10-12th grade can audition to be members of the Jazz Band. Along with performing at the band showcases, members in the Jazz Band get to participate in special performances representing the Barracuda Band off-campus. The Jazz Band is one of the higher-level groups available at Coral Reef Senior High, along with the Wind Ensemble.
Marching Band
The Barracuda Marching Band performs on-campus events, football games, competitions, and parades throughout the fall. Being a part of this group includes after-school rehearsals and a new way of performing music. All students within the Coral Reef VPA Band magnet strand are participants in the Marching Band.
Chamber Classes
Students going into 10-12th grade who do not participate in the Jazz Band are scheduled into a Chamber Ensemble. The courses are Brass & Percussion Techniques and Chamber Winds (Woodwind Ensemble). These ensembles perform at Solo & Ensemble MPA and work on practice techniques.
Showcase Ensembles
Various groups are formed to perform at events throughout the year. The following ensembles rehearse and perform outside of the school schedule: Drum Line, Orchestra Winds, Duets, Trios, Quartets, Quintets, Musical Pit Orchestra, and more. These ensembles are organized by the director.
